WASHINGTON – Congressman Kurt Schrader, co-chair of the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition, today released the following statement on the retirement of Congressman Jim Matheson (D-UT):

“Congressman Matheson has been the model of a true leader for both the Blue Dogs and all of Congress for over a decade. His willingness to reach across the aisle and forge principled compromises on the issues at hand, which was in the best interests of his constituents and all Americans, is the sort of leadership that Congress needs more of. The Blue Dogs look forward to carrying on his legacy as members of Congress who are at the forefront of crafting policies that move our country forward in the spirit of bipartisanship and compromise. We wish him, his wife Amy and the rest of his family the very best.”
